8 Minute Meditation – Week 5

After a great 4 week streak, I’ve finally missed a day this week.  Not only did I miss a day, but it has been a very stressful week.   My wife had a  minor surgery this and she will be off her feet for a few days.  Unfortunately, my daughter doesn’t yet understand the meaning of a sick day.   It’s been a stressful week with little sleep and not much down time.  Finding a few minutes for meditation has proven difficult, and every time I close my eyes, I want to take a micro nap.

Because of all the challenges this week, I’ve decided that I need to try something little different with my  8 Minute Meditation.

This week was also very surprising.  I found that sometimes you find exactly what you need exactly when you need it.

This week I discovered that the audio version of the book is a free listen for those with Amazon Prime Music.   I downloaded the chapters and listened to a guided meditation session.  Listening to the 8 minute guide instead of sitting quietly allowed me to focus more on the meditation instead of losing my way and requiring multiple resets to center myself.

Now I’m curious.  I wasn’t expecting to find the audio version of Victor Davich’s book, but I began to wonder what else was in the Amazon library that I could benefit from.   I discovered a few albums by Bonnie Groessl.  I’ve never heard of her, but my interests were peaked when I saw she had an album to help aid in falling asleep.   I’m the type of person to watch tv for an hour or two in bed before I can finally close my eyes and sleep.  In her album, “Restful Sleep – Guided Meditation for Self-Hypnosis”, she guides you into relaxation in a soothing voice.   The audio track is 22 minutes, and up to this point, I don’t think I’ve heard anything beyond the first 5 minutes.

But what really is the interesting find this week, is I discovered a fellow employee that offers daily guided meditation at 9am for a 5 minute session.   This is what I needed!   This is scheduled 5 minutes that I can count on for meditation.   I’m looking forward to Monday morning when I can start my first session of meditation at work with fellow coworkers.   It should be interesting, a conference call for meditation.  I don’t recall how I discovered these sessions at work, but this just happened to come across my desk at the right time for when I was receptive to meditation.   If this passed my desk two years ago when this person started the company meditation sessions, I would have deleted the e-mail without giving it a second thought.
